Estimating the Precipitation Amount at Regional Scale Using a New Tool, Climate Analyzer

چکیده

Different methods are known for interpolating spatial data. Introduced a few years ago, the initial version of Most Probable Precipitation Method (MPPM) proved to be valuable competitor against Thiessen Polygons Method, Inverse Distance Weighting and kriging estimating regional trend precipitation series. Climate Analyzer, introduced here, is user-friendly toolkit written in Matlab, which implements modified MPPM new selection criteria series that participate The software provides graphical output estimated series, modeling errors comparisons results different segmentations time interval used modeling. This article contains description accompanied by case study exemplify its capabilities.

Estimating IDF based on daily precipitation using temporal scale model

The intensity –duration –frequency (IDF) curves play most important role in watershed management, flood control and hydraulic design of structures. Conventional method for calculating the IDF curves needs hourly rainfall data in different durations which is not extensively available in many regions. Instead 24-hour precipitation statistics were measured in most rain-gauge stations. In this stud...

Climate Change Impact on Precipitation Extreme Events in Uncertainty Situation; Passing from Global Scale to Regional Scale

Global warming and then climate change are important topics studied by researchers throughout the world in the recent decades. In these studies, climatic parameters changes are investigated. Considering large-scaled output of AOGCMs and low precision in computational cells, uncertainty analysis is one of the principles in doing hydrological studies. For this reason, it is tried that investigati...

A new regional climate model operating at the meso-gamma scale: performance over Europe

There are well-known difficulties to run numerical weather prediction (NWP) and climate models at resolutions traditionally referred to as ‘grey-zone’ ( 3 8 km) where deep convection is neither completely resolved by the model dynamics nor completely subgrid. In this study, we describe the performance of an operational NWP model, HARMONIE, in a climate setting (HCLIM), run at two different reso...

Estimating Watershed-Scale Precipitation by Combining Gauge

4 Watershed modeling requires accurate estimates of precipitation, however in some cases 5 it is necessary to simulate streamflow in a watershed for which there is no precipitation gauge 6 records within close proximity to the watershed. For such cases, we propose an approach for 7 estimating watershed-scale precipitation by combining (or fusing) gauge-based precipitation 8 time series with rad...

Perceptible changes in regional precipitation in a future climate

[1] Evidence is strong that the changes observed in the Earth’s globally averaged temperature over the past halfcentury are caused to a large degree by human activities. Efforts to document accompanying precipitation changes in observations have met with limited success, and have been primarily focussed on large-scale regions in order to reduce the relative impact of the natural variability of ...
